Jack Sommers, a sophomore, is in the highly-competitive nursing program at Western Michigan University. WMU only takes 40 students out of 250 applicants each year. Sommers was an EMT over the summer and this experience as well as his time at WMU have given him a much clearer perspective on diversity.  WMU has a diversity score of 73 out of 100, which ranks above the national average of 46, according to collegefactual.com. Sommers is using his growing knowledge of diversity to gain life experiences in college that he hopes will help in his nursing career.
