Many students aren’t aware of career services on their college campuses, according to a national report.
The report by Gallup and the Strada Education Network says fewer than 20% of college students take advantage of career and employment services on campus.
At Western Michigan University, the Career Zone, located in Elsworth Hall, is often a quiet space. Career Zone offers advising to for both undergraduate and graduate students who want assistance with resume preparation, interviewing, cover letters, Handshake accounts, and assistance with searching for jobs and internships. Mock interviews are also available for students to practice interviewing skills.
Career Zone drop-in advising is available in room 1344 Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Students can submit a resume for review at wmu-handshake@wmich.edu or schedule an appointment online to meet with a Career Development Specialist at www.wmich.edu under the Career and Student Services tab.
